Herb Walk on Elizabethan Midsummer’s Day
Submitted by nchadborn on 26 May 2009 - 10:21am.On the antiquarian Elizabethian midsummer’s day of June 23rd Peter Neumann will lead a short evening walk from the imminent Leechwell Herb Garden.
Together with the Leechwell Garden Association, we will start at the Leechwell, and then to walk through the town ending up in TTT office for a herb tea and an informal Question And Answers evening chat with 3 local herbalists at 8pm,
The theme of the evening will be “local herbs for local people”. This event is also a local incentive of Herbal Medicine Week, which encourages herb walks particularly on this day. Email herbalist peter(at)touchfire (.)co(.)uk for more details.
TTT Spring tour of the Althea herb garden and herbal medicine clinic
Submitted by nchadborn on 26 May 2009 - 10:14am.The clinic and it’s generous mandala herb garden is the brainchild of Frances Wright, a local herbalist, herb grower and local herbal medicine course teacher. She works as a herbalist from the clinic, which is along side the garden.
This herb garden has been providing herbal medicines for people in the area for the last 3 1/2 years, and is currently a training garden for volunteers who wish to learn more about growing and using herbs. It hosts a stunning array of native and introduced medicinal plants. Plants and expertise from here have been useful to local educational and permaculture incentives like Embercombe and Land Matters.

Heatwaves are forecast to increase in frequency in the coming years –this plan provides important guidance on how to reduce the impact they will have upon health and in doing so, will save lives. Climate change is increasingly acknowledged to be a serious threat to population health.
