We are planning on creating a Community Health and Wellbeing Garden within easy walking distance of Totnes. Our aims include:

  • Therapeutic gardening
  • Helping people find a connection with the earth and nature
  • Educating people about nature and horticulture
  • A space for peace and contemplation
  • Production of vegetables and herbs
  • Looking after your body whilst gardening (eg Alexander Technique)

Let us know of any other aims that you feel should be included, also let us know if you would like to be involved: email health and wellbeing group

We are progressing much faster than expected, as opportunities open. We have drawn together project proposals for funding applications and are looking into several potential sites in Totnes for a garden. We welcome more input from anyone with an interest in growing healthy plants.
We have been invited to visit the medicinal herb garden at Embercombe and hope to plan a group trip over there soon: http://www.embercombe.co.uk/

2nd July

We had a great meeting, with representatives from many different local groups.  We discussed the possible development of a community garden with the specific aims of engaging community in growing together, to produce local food and support health and wellbeing. If you would like to get involved or would like further details, please email.
